Carrier selection guide

Mini Excavator Attachments

A mini excavator can dig, drill, break and finish ground in restricted spaces. The attachment should preserve the machine’s ability to lift, position and travel through the actual site rather than simply match its nominal weight class.

Attachment options

Compact buckets
Choose width from the required trench or finish, then check bucket mass and pickup geometry.
Auger drives
Confirm the drive, flight and extension weight at the working radius, not only drill diameter.
Breakers
Check the carrier match, auxiliary settings and return requirements for the exact breaker.
Tiltrotators
Include the extra mass and offset when checking bucket clearance and lifting capacity.

Check the complete carrier and tool combination

Working radius
A tool that can be handled close to the tracks may be unsuitable at full reach or over the side.
Hydraulic settings
Measure or confirm auxiliary flow and pressure against the attachment documentation. Small machines can still overspeed a tool.
Access and transport
Check the widest part of the tool, lifting points and transport position when moving between narrow entrances.

Plan the work

  • Define the task and access restrictions before choosing the attachment.
  • Confirm the machine configuration, coupler and permitted tool mass.
  • Check clearances at low speed, then operate within the approved working envelope.

Common selection mistakes

  • Choosing by machine tonnage alone ignores boom configuration, offset and real load.
  • Adding a heavy coupler or rotator without recalculating the complete assembly reduces useful capacity.

Before ordering

Give the supplier the exact machine model, coupler, fitted auxiliary circuit and intended working method. Include the mass and offset of any additional coupler, rotator or adapter. Ask for the applicable installation instructions and model-specific operating limits.

Check replacement wear parts, maintenance access and the transport arrangement alongside purchase cost. The selected tool should suit the normal job as well as the most demanding expected material.
