Compaction & Ground Improvement

Compaction works on a prepared material layer to achieve a specified result. The attachment should be selected with the fill material, layer thickness, access and acceptance method, rather than vibration or machine size alone.

Choose the working method

Material and layer
Establish the fill specification and permitted placement thickness.
Access and services
Match tool width and working position to the trench or confined area.
Acceptance method
Use the project’s specified measurement and inspection procedure.

Job planning sequence

  • Prepare and place the specified fill in suitable layers.
  • Operate the selected compaction equipment using its documented method.
  • Check the achieved result against project requirements before covering the layer.

Selection mistakes to avoid

  • Increasing passes cannot reliably correct an unsuitable material or excessive layer thickness.
  • A narrow trench needs a suitable working tool and access arrangement, not simply a larger carrier.

Define the specification

Describe the material, required result, access, cycle frequency and working radius before comparing tools. Record the exact carrier and mounting interface, attachment mass, available auxiliary hydraulics and required control functions.

Agree how the complete arrangement will be installed, maintained and transported. Compare normal production work and the most demanding expected conditions rather than relying on a single catalogue capacity.

The attachment guides below explain individual tool families. Use the carrier guides to check the machine side of the combination and the category guides to explore alternative working methods.
