Carrier selection guide
Backhoe Loader Attachments
A backhoe loader combines a front loading system with a rear excavating system. Attachments for the two ends must be assessed separately because their mounting arrangements, lifting geometry and hydraulic provisions serve different working methods.
Attachment options
- Front buckets
- Choose loading and grading construction for the material and loader linkage.
- Front forks
- Check the specific fork frame and machine load information rather than transferring rear-end limits.
- Rear buckets
- Select trench width and digging geometry for the backhoe arm and pickup.
- Rear hydraulic tools
- Confirm that the fitted auxiliary circuit and return arrangement suit the exact tool.
Check the complete carrier and tool combination
- Stabiliser position
- Rear-end work depends on the configured machine and properly supported ground.
- Two mounting systems
- A front coupler and a rear excavator pickup are different interfaces, even on the same carrier.
- Auxiliary provision
- The availability of a hydraulic circuit does not establish correct flow or permitted return pressure.
Plan the work
- Decide whether the task belongs at the front or rear of the machine.
- Identify the corresponding coupler, linkage and hydraulic configuration.
- Reposition and support the machine before changing the working envelope.
Common selection mistakes
- Ordering an attachment for the wrong end creates a mounting and capacity mismatch.
- Ignoring stabilisers and ground support can invalidate the assumed working capacity.
Before ordering
Give the supplier the exact machine model, coupler, fitted auxiliary circuit and intended working method. Include the mass and offset of any additional coupler, rotator or adapter. Ask for the applicable installation instructions and model-specific operating limits.
Check replacement wear parts, maintenance access and the transport arrangement alongside purchase cost. The selected tool should suit the normal job as well as the most demanding expected material.
